I have nothing against those big chain coffee places, really I don’t. And even if I did, I wouldn’t dare insult their ginormous and very loyal fan base.
But sometimes, you just don’t have $4 a day to spare. $28 dollars a week. $112 a month. Sometimes, you just don’t happen to have a shop near you. And sometimes, you just want to make a drink in the comfort of your own home, without having to leave your house, using ingredients that you can see yourself and probably already have on hand.
Enter, what we’ll call the at home Frap.

I’ll just say one more thing before I tell you how to make this deliciousness, and this probably won’t be the only time you’ll hear me say it. Here, I’ll give you recipes, but guys, these are just guidelines! Please, adjust the recipes to your needs, and your preferences! Play with it, make something that YOU love. Just use this as a launching pad. Experiment, that’s half the fun. And if it goes south, that’s ok, no one will ever know but you!
Ok now back to business.
Here’s what you’ll need. Today we’ll be making a mocha frap, but if you prefer caramel, or anything else, sub it! If you don’t want flavoring leave it out. It’s what you want!

First we’re going to make our coffee. Use whatever coffee you like, instant, a k-cup, whatever you have on hand. You’re going to need 3/4 cup of it. Try to have it somewhere close to room temperature. But if you’re in a rush, just make sure you add your ice last, and it’ll still work for you.
Now you’re going to your dairy product. Half and half has the best indulgent taste to me. But you can use normal milk (any percentage), almond milk, soy milk. If it says milk in it, try it! Now my recipe says 1/4 cup. But this is the step where you want to make your coffee the color that you like to drink it. If you like it blacker, or whiter, adjust that measurement.
Next is your flavoring, I’m using 3 Tbsp of chocolate syrup. Here is where you put whatever flavor you’d like, or omit the flavoring. Sugar free works great.
Now add your sugar, or sugar substitute. Omit if you prefer less sweet.
Last we’ll need our ice. 1 cup of it.
Put it all in your blender. I use my nutrabullet for this, as I’ve found that it grinds my ice the best. Put it all together and blend.
Top that baby with whipped cream.
Drizzle that baby with some chocolate syrup.
Stand back and look at your handy work.

You did that! Now enjoy!
Tip: Mornings are rushed, so if this is your drink of choice, double, or triple the recipe, adding all ingredients, EXCEPT for the ice. In the morning, add your ice and blend. I guarantee, that’ll be quicker than waiting in a drive thru-line!
