Welcome back to Life Sweet Lessons. I’m back from my break and MAN do I have a lot to tell you. But before I get into all of that, with this first post I’d like to talk about my word of the year.

If you’ve been here for a while, you know that each year, I like to choose a ‘theme’ word instead of making a long list of resolutions. Last year gratitude was my word and it was so interesting to see how I found myself in situations where gratitude was just a super important thing to have. (2020, I’m looking at you.) I don’t know if it just worked out that way, or if that’s how it’s always been. Maybe life always presents those sorts of opportunities, and I was just more aware of them because of my chosen word.

Well this year, I’m going in a different direction. This year, my word is ……..consistency. Here’s why.

I love to start new projects, but after a certain amount of time goes by, and I see no progress, I get frustrated and head in another direction. Eventually, I find myself falling into the ‘what’s the point mindset’.

I know in life there are going to be ‘what’s the point’ moments. But I wonder, how many times have I been so close to making a breakthrough, and instead, I just quit? I don’t want to be that person. The quitter.

I want to be consistent in so many different areas of my life, in parenting, in my marriage, and my health goals. Really, I just want to be consistent as a person. I want to see things all the way through.

And without even knowing this was my word for the year my parents gave me the coolest Christmas gift this year. I’ve been loving this planner so far, and I really think it’s going to help me stay on track with things this year.

It took me back to my high school days when I was a very devoted planner carrier. And I loved it!

So with that in mind, consistency is my aim for the year. I don’t know what that will look like, I don’t know what challenges I will face. But regardless, I plan to stay consistent through it all.

So have you chosen a word of the year? If so what is it?

Make life sweet and learn all you can.

(I’m so happy to be back!!!)
